Creative approaches and practical solutions, informed by many years of planning experience
Angus Dodds is a chartered town planner based in Edinburgh, with over 15 years’ experience working in the public and private sectors across Scotland.
Having worked as both a regulator and a promoter of development, he has an instinctive feel for how to get a project from concept to consent most effectively.
About
After studying in Edinburgh and Newcastle, Angus worked as a town planner for 8 years at Fife Council. His time at the Council was spent determining a huge range of planning applications including major housing, energy and infrastructure projects for Scotland’s third largest local authority.
Moving to the private sector in 2014, Angus’ expertise became a valuable asset to clients and colleagues at multi-disciplinary consultancies Smiths Gore and Savills. Key achievements here included securing consent for Scotland’s largest solar farm; gaining planning permission for Scotland’s first recreational huts; and, co-authoring an influential research report for the Scottish Government looking at how planning can deliver more for rural Scotland.
Angus founded Contour Town Planning in April 2021, sensing that within Edinburgh and across Scotland there was a need for an independent planning consultancy that could focus particularly on tourism, leisure, rural diversification and community consultation as key areas where the planning landscape was changing. Within this altered landscape there was a role for a creative and flexible consultancy that understood the big emerging issues and could offer the very best service for clients.
His knowledge of planning and the development industry in Scotland means that if he isn’t the right person for the job, he’ll tell you who is. Get in touch for a chat.
